In nearly
no time after the release of his second album, Alfa Aroma, we have
another XV Kilist treat for the X-Mas festivity madness.
Retroffective is a phat progressive groover that is not featured on the
album.
It comes
in a bass-heavy original version backed up with a pumping Bitmonx remix. XV Kilist biography:
In 1999 Kilian Horvath released his first single as XV Kilist on Spiral
Trax International. It was a huge success and made XV Kilist a recognized
name in the progressive wave that was sweeping the psychedelic trance
scene.
He gradually became to play a big role in the musical development of
this scene together with other Spiral Trax acts such as Atmos and Noma.
Two years later XV Kilist released his self-titled debut album that became
a milestone in the minimal trance movement.
Kilian started playing
violin at the age of nine. When he realized that playing an electric
guitar was a lot cooler, he moved on to start a band.
After four years of playing funk, the band split up and Kilian decided
to study jazz in Luzern, Switzerland. The theory of music didn’t
turn out to be his cup of tea and so he left a year after. He soon discovered
that the weird sounds at trance parties were his thing; music with no
boundaries and no rules. Kilian eventually developed his own unique sound,
minimal, very rhythmic and with a heavy influence from his early funk
days but still with a twisted touch of trance.
Today Kilian runs
a studio and the label Traktor Schalllabor with Ramon “Rocco” Rocchinotti.
They are also acting as label managers for Gonso, one of the labels from
ZAP Music. During the last five years Kilian and Rocco have been working
together in various projects such as Lounge Control, Kilophil, Fiasko
Systems, Rough Cuts and Uwe B.
